New generation of cooling system components

Cooling system components for personal computer include cooling of CPU, VGA card, hard drive and other hot spots. Cooling systems are often called as coolers, whether it is radiator, fan or heat sink mounted in a fan. Cooler for processor is vitally important device for system components proper operation. Typically cooler installation is required if regular embodiment does not satisfy a customer for a number of reasons: noise level, cooling performance and appearance.

The most important point for cooler is good thermal conductivity that is why all manufacturers use aluminum and copper in cooler components manufacturing, the more expensive model is the more copper has been used. Modern cooling device are made using effective technology of heat tubes which are filled with liquid. Heat tubes penetrate the radiator distributing heat on it evenly. The larger radiator of particular model is the lower noise level is. Fan diameter also affects the level of noise – the larger fan is the quieter it operates.

Modern industrial coolers

Coolers for video cards are rarer products, as most of video cards are manufactured with well-designed embedded cooling system. However, it may be vital when there is a need to replace defective regular cooling component as well as make an attempt to reduce noise. An important component of personal computer is hard disk cooler, because hard disk cooling is related directly to its service life endurance as high temperature is critical for mechanics. If you want to create a quiet computer you will have to fork out for expensive components. So, you can install fully silent or extremely quiet coolers on main computer components and ensure good ventilation of computer body with additional low-noise fans.

Every day technology of processors development is changing. Now, except frequency characteristics two main requirements are imposed to processors: they must have small size and they should consume less power. New processors are really small in size and with each new series they consume less power, but they do not stop to warm up. And if earlier processors of personal computers can work quietly cooled by passive radiators only, modern processors need a full cooler set with a large heat sink and a powerful fan.

It is believed that the larger radiator is the better it works. This point of view is not true. The amount of heat withdrawn by radiator depends on the surface area. It is possible to increase the surface area of the radiator using two ways: to make it larger or to use ridges in its design. Radiator ridges significantly increase its area. The ideal option is a large radiator with lots of very thin ridges. Ridges layout is also important. The best radiator is needle-shaped, where needles are used instead of ridges. In this case, the surface area increases greatly. The platform, radiator touches the processor with, should be smooth as uneven surface forms gaps filled with air, which hinder heat sink.
